The Galician Association of Illustration Professionals (AGPI) was founded five years ago. The last three years have been fruitful as regards promoting and defending its members, almost 80 Galician illustrators. It is now an official member of FADIP, the federation encompassing other Spanish associations.

The following are some of the activities that AGPI has organised in this short period of time:
- “Encontro Galego de Ilustradores.” An annual meeting that brings together all of the sector’s professionals. It has the objective of promoting contacts among them and features discussions, debates and conferences by nationally renowned authors. The next annual meeting will be the third one.
-“Can de Palleiro” exhibihtion in collaboration with A Coruña Provincial and City Councils. An exhibition featuring illustrations that pay tribute to Galician’s native dog breed. A catalogue will be published this year.
- “Homenaxe a Eisner” virtual exhibition. A small exhibition paying tribute to the illustrated-margin master Will Eisner, who died in 2005. It appears on the association’s website.
- “Plantando Árbores” exhibition in collaboration with the Department of Culture and Pontevedra’s Children’s Book Fair. It involved the participation of 39 illustrators and as many writers, reversing the usual work process. The writers created texts based on illustrations inspired by nature.
- “AGPIRINA.” AGPI publishes a six-monthly information bulletin about the latest news from the Galician illustration sector and projects that the association is currently working on.
- www.agpilustracion.org AGPI’s website features news sections, gallery of the members’ work, legal information about the profession, etc.
